the Oystercatchers day is all about finding tidbits and morsels to eat. The beach is always such an inspiration for me, walking my dogs on the wild beaches of my home island, this is a scene that never fails to make me want to capture it.

I constantly source materials for my textile collages, and as a background I have used a heavy weight sandcolored canvas , gorgeous, both in texture and color. I use my own linocut printed fabrics for the birds and handprint all the recycled fabrics used for flowers, adding bits and pieces of vintage clothing for the landscape. When the composition is done, I start free motion embroidering over the whole piece, free motion embroidery is like drawing on your sewingmachine, it takes a lot of stitch to make a piece like this, giving a wonderful kind of hap hazard line to the embroidery, I invent flowers, and lines, all to create the right look and texture to the piece. I do intend for you to frame the collage, although it does not need glass and can also be stretched on a board.

This piece measures 41" x 17,5" ( 104cm x 45 cm) including an inch on all sides for framing or stretching.

I have signed the piece in stitch and it comes with a certificate of authenticity.
