Almost 20 years a full-time printmaker and I am as much in love with printmaking as the day I pulled my first print!
My presses have moved with me, from Borneo to Singapore, from Singapore to Spain, and now on to my native Denmark, where I have set up my studio and gallery on the beautiful island of Møn in southern Denmark. You can visit my studio at www.borre326-studioandgallery.com .
I am self-taught, a book, a way to thick copper plate and a gallon drum of nitric acid, making every mistake you could, and learning, learning as I went along. Over the years I have distilled my work down to almost exclusively two kinds of printmaking, I make larger linocuts and smaller aquatint etchings. The intense amount of details in an etching versus the need to see things "clearer" to make a linocut, really appeals to me and makes the 2 techniques perfect complements for me. I also explore linocut collage, where I print my own fabrics and then cut and embroider the linocuts back together to form an image. These linocuts are one of a kind.
I would love for you to feel at home, here in my gallery shop. Experiencing art, should not be about dead serious, it should be a pleasure, a treasure, a need to come back and see more and above all a voyage amongst pieces that contains heart and soul of the artists who made them. You should not have to be rich to own one of my prints, that is for me, what printmaking is about, a democratic art form, allowing both you and me to be collectors. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources, I live in the most beautiful spot, an island in the south of Denmark called Møn, here untouched beaches and a prolific wildlife inspires me tremendously. I have no single line of work, but prefer to make images as they come into my head, through books, I love to read, through radio, music and a huge part, from my daily dog walks, that not only provide inspiration from nature but also moments of contemplation that results in many of my prints!
We decorate our homes in many ways, and art is fast becoming much more available and much more affordable as shopping directly from artists through their websites open up, with this comes a responsibility for me, the artist, to make you feel as secure as in a bricks and mortar shop.
I have had an online presence for the last 10 years and have sold many of my works online by now, and I am very happy that my clients feel that they have received both great service and great art. If you would like to take a look at my reviews, that span many years, you can visit my artfinder shop or my linocut shop on etsy , where you find (almost) all 5 star reviews.
My policies are very simple and straightforward, you are the most important client every time, regardless of what you purchased! You don't want to go through with your purchase or return it for whatever reason, I refund all of your purchase price and shipping. You send the artwork back to me, is all I ask.
All my prints are printed on best quality printmaking papers (favorites are Zerkall, Fabriano, and Hahnemuelhe) with Charbonnel etching inks, Cranfield inks, and Daler Rowney block printing inks. I pride myself on high-quality work.
If you took the time to read all of this, thank you, for taking an interest. I am right here if you would like to get in touch with questions, or maybe to custom order a print or collage? Whatever the reason, I look forward to hearing from you.
